Magic Platters
The most famous and glamorous of all vocal American groups is, undoubtedly, The Platters, who represented America worldwide by selling millions of records. In the fifties, Buck Ram, composer and producer seeks interpreters for his songs. He wants to form a group and hires the services of one female singer and four singers, unemployed, who immediately accept the offer. That group takes the name of The Platters, meaning "records" in American slang. The first recording of Only You is distributed in 1953, it is a total disaster and the first change takes place within the group. The solo singer of that time is then replaced by Tony Williams and the record is completely re-arranged.
